Epic Sunset Beaches

You are really spoilt for choice here. The sun goes down at 6pm every day. Some beaches are better than others if you like to see it set in the center of you picture or you want to sit at a bar with an ice cold Lion Beer, juice or cocktail. Its also a great time to do Yoga on a quieter beach.

Our favorite spots are…

Gurubebila, Lions Rest Sunset Terrace, small private terrace in the hotel overlooking the ocean and Coconut Point. Have a fresh juice, fine tea or gin and tonic.

Weligama, Catamaran, reggae boat come restaurant on the left of Weligama bay. Crab and Lobsters are amazing, service can be a bit Rasta which is fine if you expect this. The fish is also worth the wait.

Weligama, Neptune Resort has a nice cocktail bar on the beach, located on the far right next to the enormous Hilton that is being constructed. Last year the camp was run by some stylish Russians with Good Story Place. We hope they will return.

Unawatuna, Tartaruga Hotel you can watch the sun set behind the temple on the peninsula. The service is super nice and the food is excellent for fresh pasta sauces, fish BBQ and Asian dishes.

Lazy Left in Midigama is a nice place to chill post surf. An uncomercilased left reef break, sometimes some of the local surfers bring musical instruments and jam with the friendly beach dogs.
