Local Surf near Gurubebila Village

Surf South Sri Lanka HQ is based in rural Gurubebila Village between Midigama and Weligama, in the south west of Sri Lanka. It’s a quiet village with a great surf culture, you get really get to hang local.

Catch some fish for the BBQ, join the cricket team, or relax with a Lion beer and watch another epic sunset. It is a perfect location for you to get to many of the best southern surf points, without the package tourist crowds and the noise of the main A2 road.

Our local beach hosts two surf breaks Plantation Point and Coconut Point. Clean waves hold to 6ft on a good day, classic A-frame with peeling left and right from a reef point break, 450m rides.

The Midigama-Weligama area caters for all surfing abilities, with a beginners Beach Break only 3km away and Ram’s Right, Lazy Left and Jungle Beach intermediate reefs in walking or a short tuk-tuk ride away. Other breaks like Mirissa and Kabalana are 15 mins in a tuk-tuk so you can still make a sunrise surf in good time.
